A courier arrived the previous day from Spain bringing M. d'Albes news of the destruction of the French army in Spain by that of the archduke [Saragosa], and of a smaller defeat in Flanders. M. de Baye was killed but the king escaped to Madrid. The regulars and reserves have been called out in the threatened provinces.It is said that [the duke of] Berwick has been ordered to send reinforcements to [the duke of Nouailles in Rousillon.
