Major General Seissan to Marlborough: contrary winds delayed his arrival at Genoa. Townshend and the [grand] pensionary have told him he may not proceed to the army until Marlborough sends for him. He sends a letter from Admiral Norris showing that he [Seissan] was not at fault in the attack on Languedoc and he defends his conduct. Behaviour of the duke of Nouailles and the duke of Roquelaure. Protestations of his zeal and eagerness to serve. Observations on the military situation in Flanders. PS. with praise for the naval and military officers, especially Norris, but singling out three named officers who failed in their duty. He has just learnt that twenty of his close relatives have been imprisoned. Dated at The Hague. ff. 236-240
