Description

Marlborough to Boyle: after the resumption of hostilities many of the French left the citadel, but were taken prisoner, and no more were allowed to leave. After conferring with the earl of Albemarle the marquis de Surville has agreed to an unconditional capitulation. Marlborough encloses Surville's proposals and his responses [SP 87/5/36]. He encloses a letter from the marquis de Tovey requesting that Marshal de Tallard may have leave to go to France. Dated at Tournai. ff. 73, 74
