Adam Cardonnel to Secretary [Henry] Saint-John: he is concerned that Saint-John has written to Marlborough that Lord Dartmouth has read an extract of a letter of Cardonnel's to the postmaster at Ostend [SP 87/4/327] in which he mentions the plan of a descent on the French coast. He wrote only in general terms of the desirability of such a project, and asks Saint-John to bring this to Dartmouth's notice. He encloses a letter from the postmaster [SP 87/4/218] ff. 584, 585; 591
