To [?] from [?]: our sins have not yet been expiated... we were brought from Douai to join the elector [of Bavaria]'s expedition against Brussels, where we met much more resistance than expected. We have been brought down by the cowardice of those who allowed Marlborough to cross the Scheldt. By a miracle we have re-taken St Buislain. Dated at Mons. ff. 228-230
