Description

Adam Cardonnel to Under Secretary George Tilson: he is sorry to hear that 'the old complaint against our circular' has re-emerged. He supposes that the coffee house mentioned is that in the Tilt, which he has forbidden for the future, and speculates how [the complaint] came into the press. The trenches before Lille were successfully opened. The Dutch [grand] pensionary knows of the French plan to breach the dykes. Marlborough thinks it is too late for Davenant to take Howes' place with the elector. They are awaiting confirmation of Prince Eugene's victory over de Villars Dated at camp at Amongie. ff. 171-173
