Marlborough to Boyle: he awaits with impatience the results of Boyle's efforts to secure a bill for recruiting troops. He has not yet seen the dispatches from Stanhope brought by Brigadier Wade to The Hague. He believes the states [general] will comply with the proposal on the Palatine troops. He encloses a letter from the states regarding a proposal that he or Prince Eugene should spend the winter with the army [SP 87/3/117] and his reply [SP 87/3/118], and wishes to know the queen's reaction. The siege [of Ghent] continues successfully and the Fort Rouge has capitulated, which opens the way for provisions to come from Zeeland and Holland. Dated at camp at Meirelbeke. PS. in Marlborough's hand asking Boyle to deliver the enclosed to the queen. ff. 237, 238
