Marlborough to Boyle: he expects to hear soon that the fleet has landed in France. He has crossed the Scheldt to prevent the dukes of Burgundy and Berwick from joining forces. He has heard that the duke of Savoy has had a favourable engagement with Villars. Letters from Paris say that the garrison of Exilles has had to give up prisoners of war. Dated at camp at Amougies. PS. in Marlborough's hand that he has heard nothing from the duke of Savoy and concludes there has been no action. ff. 159, 160
