Description

Marlborough to Boyle: he has received news of the defeat of the czar's army, which will make the Russian ambassador more amenable. Sir George Byng and Mr. [Lieutenant General] Erle have received his letters. The artillery has been moved from Menin to Lille where Prince Eugene is to open the trenches. The duke of Vendôme and the duke of Berwick are in the same positions. Visit of King Augustus [of Poland] and the landgrave of Hesse. Captain Wagers has met with the galleons in the West Indies. Dated at camp at Helchin. ff. 157, 158
