Memorandum to Marlborough: the proposed action is the most advantageous, useful, economic etc. for the allies since the beginning of the war. It will save the queen millions and put France at her feet. The provinces which rise [will] carry fire to the heart of France, which will have to send troops from Spain and Roussillon to deal with it. For the execution, the marquis de Porcelet should be sent to The Hague to ensure that the envoy of the confederation does not depart fruitlessly. Marlborough must write to M de Giscard, who is arranging matters with the lord treasurer, and Giscard should join Porcelets at The Hague with the queen's orders for King Charles [III of Spain]. ff. 52, 53
