Marlborough to Secretary the earl of Sunderland : he is pleased that the queen approves what he has written regarding the 4,000 imperial troops intended for Catalonia. Stanhope, writing from Milan, hopes that with these troops King Charles [III of Spain] will be able to act offensively; he is pressing for a squadron in the straits. The need for a representative at Genoa. He encloses a letter [SP87/3/24] and memorandum [SP 87/3/25] from the marquis de Porcelletts and asks Boyle to consult with the lord treasurer and the marquis de Guiscard and advise him what to answer. The dukes of Burgundy and Berry have arrived at Valenciennes and are deploying their forces. Marlborough intends to assemble his [close to Brussels]. Dated at Brussels. PS. regarding a request for leave from the count de Lassay. ff. 48, 49
