Sir Clowdisley Shovell to Marlborough: he has supplied 1,500 barrels of powder from Portugal and the fleet, but has been informed by the duke of Savoy that 80-100 guns, 40,000 shot and 6-7,000 barrels of powder are required. He has obtained powder from Genoa and Leghorn, and shot from Gibraltar and the fleet. Account of the passage of the Var. Reasons for advancing directly on Toulon.
