Marlborough to Harley: he is pleased that the queen has agreed that Robinson should go to Hamburg and that Jeffreys may accompany the Swedish army. He hopes for a happy issue from the congress at Hamburg. Letters from Vienna indicate that the empire is persisting in its expedition against Naples. He has written to the prince of Salm for the emperor [Joseph I]'s thoughts on the situation in Spain. He encloses a resolution [SP 87/2/287] of the states general on the subject. The [grand] pensionary is of the opinion that the duke of Savoy should be vigourously supported, but Marlborough thinks no decision should be taken before reliable news is received from Spain. The troops from Flanders have joined. Dated at camp at Lembecq. ff 582, 583
