Marlborough to Harley: after his meeting with the king of Sweden, he thought he had no intention of allying with France, but found him cool towards the court of Vienna. He has persuaded the Swedes not to insist on the restitution of the Protestant churches in Silesia. A conference with the Swedish ministers at Alt Ranstadt about Prince Charles's renunciation. He and the states [general] have written to the court at Vienna to dissuade them from the Naples expedition in favour of entering France, and he encloses a copy of his letter to Count Wratislaw. He awaits more news of the defeat of the [allied] army [at Almanza] in Spain. The Swedes have agreed to Mr. Robinson's secretary accompanying their army. Mr. Robinson is the most suitable to attend the congress in Hamburg. He encloses particulars from France on the battle in Spain. Dated at The Hague. ff 564-567
