Marlborough to Harley: rumours of a successful battle in Spain. The elector Palatine has written to him about M. Steinghens' memorial on the upper Palatinate. He will pursue the matter at The Hague. He presumes the queen will approve sending Colonel Stephens directly to Spain. Stepney should be well advanced on his journey to the low countries. He encloses a letter from the council of state regarding trade between the two countries. An armistice in Saxony. The rains have effectively ended the campaign. Dated at camp at Gramez. PS. news of a battle in Spain. ff 527-530
