Description

Marlborough to Harley: he has heard from Sir Stafford Fairborne at Ostend that he hopes to have the three battalions on board that day, but has no news of the Dutch transports. Possible arrival of Captain Cowdal to suborn Irish deserters. The elector of Bavaria has withdrawn from Mons to Valenciennes. Overkirk is approaching and the Prussians and Hanoverians are coming from Aalst. There has been an action between Prince Eugene and Vendôme, but he does not know the outcome. He encloses a letter from a French lady whose husband is imprisoned in Jersey. Dated at camp at Helchin. ff. 467, 468
