Marlborough to Harley: the Dutch troops have assembled at Tongeren. He encloses a copy [SP 87/2/199] of a letter from the prince of Baden. The French have taken Hagenau and Lauterburg, and have the Rhine open to Philippsburg. He encloses copies of his letters to the emperor [Joseph I] [SP 87/2/200], to Prince Eugene [SP 87/2/201] and to the landgrave of Hesse [SP 87/2/202], a letter to himself from the states general [SP 87/2/203], his answer [SP 87/2/204], and his letter to M. Geldermalsen [SP 87/2/205]. He has had to promise that the queen would contribute the cost of a few days' forage for the Hanoverian and Hessian troops. He encloses a letter from the king of Prussia [SP 87/2/207], and one from the prince of Salm [SP 87/2/206]. Dated at Maastricht. PS. he asks Harley to consult with the lord treasurer as to which of these letters should be laid before the council. Honourable conduct of Mijnheer van Buys [pensionary of Amsterdam]. ff. 400-402
