Marlborough to Harley: as Brigadier Cadogan has returned from the elector of Hanover with a second excuse, he does not intend to forward the queen's letter to him. The prince of Baden has lost 2,000 men and most of his artillery on the Rhine. The king of Prussia remains obdurate. He encloses a copy [SP 87/2/197] of his memorial on a treaty for maintaining the [English] succession. The allies are sending 10,000 men to the assistance of the duke of Savoy. An informant is sending intelligence to the lord treasurer. Marlborough is leaving for Maastricht. Dated at The Hague. ff. 395-397
