Marlborough to the king of Prussia: M. de Schmettau has informed him of the king's intention to send his troops towards Wesel. The French are marching a corps to Germany and Marlborough fears that they have intentions on the upper Rhine. He requests the king to order the troops to Mainz. He has ordered Hanoverians to the area, but the Prussians are also needed. He has letters from Vienna saying that the court will do its best to satisfy the king's demands. When he has consulted with the states [general] he will communicate his plans for the campaign. Dated at The Hague. ff. 381, 382
