'The Suez Canal Prepared at the Hydrographic Office, Admiralty, from a French Survey in 1869'. Chart showing soundings, beacons, buoys; railway, telegraph; sections (for which see MPK 1/91/4-11). Scale: 2.5 inches to 5,000 yards; 'The breadth of the Canal has been considerably enlarged in order to show the soundings.' Compass rose; magnetic variation 1870. Drawn by Edward J Powell. Prepared at the Admiralty, 8 January 1870. Soundings and sections taken during examination in February 1870. Lithographed by Malby & Sons.
