1882-1964
This series contains correspondence between the National Register of Archives (NRA) and local voluntary NRA committees. The subjects covered by this correspondence refer mainly to the setting up of the local committees, the location of collections of archives, and their transfer to the local record office. By the 1950s, when local record offices had been established, much of the correspondence was with the local archivist, who by then had taken over many of the functions of the local committees. Other files contain correspondence relating to attempts to set up local committees in Wales, the Isle of Man and the Channel Islands. There is also correspondence with the National Register of Archives (Scotland), Public Record Office of Ireland, Public Record Office of Northern Ireland and the National Library of Ireland.
