Registered files relating to Treasury approval of loans, mortgages, sales and other transactions relating to corporate land under the Municipal Corporation Acts 1835 to 1882, the Baths and Washhouses Acts 1846 to 1899, the Burial Acts 1852 to 1900, and various local and private Acts.
These Treasury files passed to the Local Government Board on the transfer of functions to the department by the Treasury under Part IV of the Local Government Act 1888, and s1(1) of the Local Authorities (Treasury Powers) Act 1906. When the files passed to the Local Government Board, an alphabetical register of them was made by that department; but the single register which has survived (HLG 2/130) is not comprehensive and there is also evidence of some gaps in the files preserved.
