This series consists of Ministry of Technology (MINTECH) files which were transferred to the Department of Trade and Industry when MINTECH was dissolved in 1970. Although primarily files of the International and General Secretariat and its unidentified predecessor, they were used also by the General External Branch of the Ministry.
Some of the files relate to meetings of the Minister with the Trades Union Congress's Scientific Advisory Committee and with the Confederation of British Industry and the Confederation of Shipbuilding and Engineering Unions. Other files relate to technological co-operation with Russia and West Germany and the Slough Experiment. The latter was a proposed industrial experiment to determine the most effective means of helping small industry to improve productivity and export performance.
