Description

This series consists of sentences and interlocutories which were originally loose papers. Most were bound into volumes, but some remain loose. They all relate to prize cases (ships captured from an enemy in time of war). Sentences cover the period 1643 to 1813 but interlocutories date from 1776 onwards.

A sentence is the judgement or decision of a court, and is finally decisive of a case or suit. An interlocutory decree is pronounced during the course of an action; it is not finally decisive, and can relate to a provisional decision in a case.
