in 2000 British Potato Council
The Grading Standards Committee was established in July 1936 to "consider how grading could be improved on voluntary lines through the instrumentality of the Broad". The committee was abolished shortly before the second world war and reformed as the Standards of Dressing Committee in August 1957. Its remit was to visit producers and markets to report to the Executive Committee on the standards of dressing, quality and presentation of potato marketing.
In 1959 it was renamed the Ware Standard Committee and in February 1966 it adopted the title of Grading Standards Committee.
