Administrative / biographical background

The Early Potato Committee was established in November 1955 to monitor both home grown and imported potatoes as part of an initiative to promote the orderly marketing of all potato crops. In 1957 the Committee approved the creation of the New Potato Imports Advisory Committee, which was replaced in 1991 by the Early Potato Advisory Committee, which advised the Potato Marketing Board on marketing strategies for home grown early potatoes.
