The Northern Ireland Liaison Committee was established in 1935 with the aim of the mutual development of marketing procedures with special relation to the marketing of Northern Ireland Potatoes. The committee was short lived and was soon replaced by a less formal arrangement between the Potato Marketing Board marketing offices and the North of Ireland Potato Marketing Association established by the Ministry of Agriculture (Northern Ireland).
In 1955 the re-named Northern Ireland Joint Advisory Committee was re-established and continued until December 1992. It co-ordinated the market for potatoes grown in Northern Ireland and Great Britain, and considered any other matters of mutual interest relating to the production and marketing of potatoes.
