This Committee was formed in 1961 to report to the Board on all aspects of research, and to recommend projects, after evaluation, to be undertaken by either Board staff or by external research centres. In determining priorities, the Board consulted widely with scientists and other representatives of the potato industry. Both contract and collaborative projects with other organisations were undertaken at the Board's Experimental Station at Sutton Bridge, Lincolnshire.
Dissemination of results of research to trade and producers was undertaken by means of demonstrations, trials and printed material.
