These files concern telecommunications, particularly radio and television broadcast and receiving apparatus, and the export and import of equipment used in the radio and television industries. The files show signs of re-registration from the LC files prefix (HF 10) used by the Ministry of Technology's Electronics and Instrumentation (L) Division.
From 1996 Department of Trade and Industry
The Electronics and Computers (LC) Division was established in the Ministry of Technology (Mintech) in 1969. In 1970 it was transferred to the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI). In October 1971, LC Division was merged with Systems and Automation (SA) Division to form Computers, Systems and Electronics (CSE) Division. In 1974, CSE Division was transferred to the Department of Industry where, in 1980, it was retitled the Information Technology (IT) Division.
The functions of the LC Division and its successors involved industrial and technological sponsorship of the electronics industry, including telecommunications and latterly the computer industry.
