Administrative / biographical background

In 1956 EM Nicholson, the Director General of the Nature Conservancy suggested the formation of a club for senior Conservancy and Committee members. The club was formed in 1957 and was named after the first chairman of the Nature Conservancy, Sir Arthur Tansley. Its main objective was to keep ex-members of the Conservancy informed of the organisation's work and in touch with each other and senior serving staff.

The club was wound up in 1981.
