This series contains files mainly of the Ministry of Economic Warfare and the Economic Warfare Department of the Foreign Office relating to the work of the Combined Intelligence Objectives Sub-committee and the British Intelligence Objectives Sub-committee in obtaining technical and political intelligence of urgent military importance, and compiling and disseminating reports thereon. The earlier Ministry of Economic Warfare papers include assessments of the effects of economic warfare; subsequently the emphasis is on intelligence and information pertinent to the exploitation of occupied territory. All files were subsequently re-registered in the German Department of the Foreign Office.
Some files have been re-registered from FO 837.
