Folios 139-144. Inventions. Petitions addressed to the King for letters patent under the Great Seal for the sole use and benefit from inventions for the term of 14 years in England, &c. &c. Inventor's name: John Allen, Doctor of Physic. Nature of Invention: A new method of heating and boiling water, &c. A new invention for the application of certain powers (never before made use of for the like purpose) to give motion to engines whereby a ship may be navigated in a calm, &c. A method to dry malt after a different manner from any hitherto used. Papers annexed: Petitioner's afft. Attorney-General's report dated July 4.
