Folios 96-97. John Huggins to [Newcastle]. He is prosecuted for the murder of Mr. Arne, a prisoner in the Fleet Prison in 1725, altho' he never heard of the man until the committee of the House of Commons visited the prison 3 1/2 years after his death, and was never in the prison himself in that year but acted by deputy. He is prosecuted also for the escape of smugglers who are still in the Fleet and for that of Sir Alexander Anstruther who was a prisoner in the Fleet in 1724 in execution for £18,890 and was by his Grace's warrant in February 1724 taken out of the Fleet for high treason in Diminishing the coin and carried to Newgate where he still remains, but he has ever since been sued for recovery of that great sum as an escape from the prison. Intreats his grace to take his case into consideration and give him advice and assistance.
