Folios 48-49. [Delafaye] to [Newcastle]. Letters from Mr. Walpole give an account of his having made the Queen's compliments upon the birth of the Dauphin and of his having applied to the Duke of Berwick and got six men discharged out of his regiment who had been trepanned into the French service. A letter from Mr. Stanhope and Mr. Walpole, sates that Mr. Stanhope will set out for Spain next Monday. A letter from Mr. Humes and a packet from Sir Robert Walpole are enclosed. There is a "Chauvelin to Chamorel": "That they have settled the articles of the treaty, but hope the English being sensible of the necessity of taking advantage of the present disposition of the Court of Spain, will be willing to yield to any alterations that may [be] desired there, to humour the Queen of Spain's delicatesse, in whatever may not be contrary to the interests of our nation or to what France has guaranteed to us".
