Folios 89-90. Sir John Eyles from South Sea House to [Newcastle]. By Mr.Keene's letter of the 19th instant N.S. I have the satisfaction to receive the cedula for the admission of the ship Prince William in such terms as will answer the Company's ends pretty well. In case the Court of Spain should refuse to admit of the authenticated measurement of her taken here which I hope however they will yield to, it will better secure against any possible embroile in the Indies. But the residence of our factors at Panama and the internation of our goods to the place of the fair, is still in doubt, no cedula being yet granted for those very material points. I have also had advice ... that the Government of Cartagena has paid obedience at last to H.C.M's cedulas for the establishment of our factory and commerce there, which was the subject of the Company's last memorial. By the ship Mermaid lately arrived from Buenos Ayres, the Company's factories were re-established, but no restitution made of reprised effects, which are all transmitted thence to Lima to be sent to H.C.M. by the next return of the galleons, which will very probably be the subject of another memorial, when the Company shall be more fully informed of what has been there and other places, in that respect.
