Earl of Morton to [Newcastle] . ... by the death of Robert, Earl of Morton, my brother, his commissions of Vice-Admiral of the Islands of Orkney and Zeatland and Lieutenant of the county, are become void... I beg your Grace will be so good to ask his Majesty's allowance for making them out in my name, the dispatch of which will be of great service to me, being obliged to hasten for Scotland for electing my son to serve in parliament in my place.
