Folios 104-105. H. Pelham to Townshend. Captain Burnet of Major-General Grove's regiment being dead, the Major General has made application for Captain Lieut. Preston of his regiment to succeed him and so a succession on in the regiment. . . the captain lieut. was made such about year and a half since in the room of his father by way of exchange, when he was not the eldest lieut. in the regiment. The Major General was desired to recommend some half pay captain but he said he was acquainted with none. Captain Charles Jeffryson, a reduced captain on half pay of Brigadier Clayton's late regiment of foot has petitioned for this vacant company. He is a man of fair character, very capable and fit to serve. Captain Lieut. Fairfax of Colonel Ligonier;'s regiment of horse in Ireland desires to make an exchange of his commission with Captain Lieut. Heath of Brigadier Fielding's regiment of Invalids in England. Colonel Fleming has recommended Lieut. Clutterbuck to succeed Captain Lieut. Davidson, deceased, in the regiment of Fuziliers Tyrawley's he commands, and Ensign Wilson, son of Colonel Wilson, formerly Lieut. Colonel to Lord Londonderry's regiment of foot, to succeed Lieut. Clutterbuck.
