Folios 118-125. J.Scrope from Treasury Chambers to Delafaye. Sending a letter from the Secretary of the Customs dated the 17th. instant giving information of French vessels hovering on the coast between Yarmouth and Newcastle and publicly selling brandy in defiance of the sloops appointed to guard the coast, also copy of a letter from the captain of a sloop, dated from Tinmouth Haven the 13th. instant, reporting that he was chased and was engaged by five French snows on the 7th. instant and had some of his men wounded; a copy of a letter from the Customs at Yarmouth on the same subject. It is desired that the proceedings of these French smugglers may be represented to the court of France in order that they may be stopped. The letters enclosed.
