The officers of Arms of England who have for many ages had patents from the crown are; Garter ) Clarenceux ) King of Arms Norroy ) Chester ) S.Martin Lancaster ) Richmond ) Heralds J.Whorwood Windsor ) York ) Somerset ) Portcullis ) Blewmantle ) Pursevants J.Pomphret Rouge cross) Rouge dragon) His late majesty by the statutes of the Bath dated 14 Jan, 1725, instituted a King of Arms and two heralds and directed patents to be passed, for which the bills drawn by the Attorney General are, as I am informed, in your Grace's office.
