Folios 92-93. Minutes of the Committee of Council appointed to consider of their Majesties coronation. That the ceremonial be the same as that used at the coronation of Queen Anne and the late King, with such alterations and amendments as are necessary to be made on the occasion of a coronation of a Queen Consort. In regard to the spring tides which will happen on the 4th of next month, their lordships are of opinion that will not be a proper day for the coronation, and therefore propose to move his Majesty that it may be deferred to Tuesday the 10th of October. For which purpose they have directed Mr. Solicitor General to prepare the draft of a proclomation. And their lordships further propose that the master of the mint be directed to alter the date of the medals accordingly. For the better view of the procession, their lordships propose that the ground which is to be railed in should be raised 18 inches. Mr.Treasurer of the Household to walk as a knight of the Bath at his own request, without prejudice to his rank in the Privy Council as Treasurer of the Household. That the Privy Councillors do wear their hats in the return of the procession and in the Westminster Hall, and put them on as soon as they come out of the Abbey. Upon the petition of the Countess of Erroll claiming an hereditary right of the office of High Constable of Scotland, and praying that the Marquis of Bowmont may be allowed to walk in the procession as her deputy. Their lordships are of opinion that her claim is just, but in regard the said marquis is under age, that she should nominate another deputy for his majesty's approbation. That the Earl of Scarborough representing to this committee his right as Master of the Horse to serve his majesty at dinner upon the coronation day. Their lordships are of opinion that he should be allowed to perform the same service as was performed by the Duke of Somerset, as Master of the Horse, at the last coronation. That all the inferior ranks of peers and peeresses do first take their places in the hall at the table on the left hand of the King till that table shall be filled, And that the superior ranks of peers and peeresses, that cannot be placed at that table, be placed at the head of the table on the right hand of the King above the bishops.
