Folio 132: [Pietro Bonsi, bishop of] Béziers [French ambassador extraordinary to Poland] to [? Swann]. Cossacks who are already at Boristhene [? Boristhera] have requested their general Doroshenko to accept vest and other marks of protection from Porte and resolvedto shake off Polish domination and unite themselves with [the government of] Valachia; they have already sent deputies to Poland and Muscovy to notify them of their decision; at an assembly of theirs, special messenger from Turkey presented them with vests and delivered letter from sultan. [Polish] election diet to commence next week and will last long; duke [Philip William] of Neuburg and prince Charles [of Lorraine] appear as candidates, but Poles believe others will present themselves as such.
