Description

Folio 92: Petition by John van Haesdonck to the King. Refers to King's letter to himself of Sept. 1 [copy appended, but wanting here] recommending petitioner's case [unspecified] to magistrates and senate of Hamburg, action having, by false pretences of adversary party, been delayed for past twelve years, in hope that petitioner, an 'ancient' man may die; prays that 'the minister' at Hamburg be ordered to require magistrates and senate to cause suit speedily and justly dispatched either by way of justice or through commissioners appointed for that business; otherwise King may advise what he thinks fit in petitioner's interest, resident at Hamburg to receive particulars from his agent there.

Date and Place: 1668 n.d. [after Sept. 1 ? London]

Note
Endorsed: see note According to the dorse, this is a copy of a version shortened on advice of 'Mr. Secretary Bridgman' [i.e. Sir Orlando Bridgeman, lord keeper of the great seal], thence referred to the committee of trading, there 'augmented' and referred to Williamson at his discretion to write, in pursuance of King's order, to the resident at Hamburg 'so that speedy justice may be done to the petitioner's satisfaction in his business of Hamburg'.
