Folio 85: Swann to [Williamson]. Detlef von Ahlefeldt, about to go as Danish ambassador extra-ordinary to [courts of] electors of Brandenburg and Saxony and dukes of Brunswick-Lüneburg, has procured for Swann an 'authentique' text of lately concluded treaty between Brandenburg and France which is enclosed [missing]. Ahlefeldt not at all pleased with that 'alliance' since articles do not mention peace, and believes, elector 'has been dup't into it with an assurance of peace'; in discussion, Ahlefeldt suggested sending an English ambassador or minister to Denmark; Swann replied that one would 'questionlesse' be sent if Denmark sent one to England, but Danes 'would fayre have us lead the way' because of the declaration issued against them [Danes] in last war.
