Folio 84: G Newmann [Swann's new secretary] to Williamson. Swann attending election of new burgomaster and jousts following it. Dukes of Brunswick-Lüneburg have recently met in council at Brunswick with several deputies of neighbouring princes present and Swann has it 'from a good hand' that they are considering to enter the defensive league lately concluded between England and Holland; it is believed that rest of German princes will apply for inclusion. Conflagration has consumed large portions of Vienna's imperial palace; Empress dowager escaped narrowly, Emperor and Empress have taken refuge at Capuchin convent.
