Vienna, July 17 (N.S.): festivities, including great horse-ballet, around Empress's name-day; Hungarian estates summoned to Vienna; imperial vice-chancellor [count K"nigsegg] to be dispatched to several electors and [German] states, purpose not known. Warsaw, July 18: incursions by Tartars and Cossacks into Ukraine; they are within twelve miles of Lvov [Lemberg, Leopolis]; papal nuncio and French ambassador have thrown public entertainments to celebrate election of Clement IX; baron Francis Gise, envoy extraordinary of Neuburg, has arrived on his mission of condolence [at queen's death]. PS: Hamburg, July 20: a Scottish privateer has, near Wangenrode, taken eight richly laden cogs going from Hamburg to Holland; queen of Sweden giving aid to victims of late 'accident' (see f.68) by granting 'recompense' to widows and children of two or three men killed, and paying for cure of seventeen wounded.
