Description

Folio 61: [?] to 'Monsieur Nipho' [? code-name for Williamson]. News-letter. Queen Christina has arrived at 'Schonen' [i.e. Scania], frontier county of Sweden [on visit] and was received with royal salute. Princess [Charlotta Amalia] of Hessen-Cassel who is to marry crownprince [Christian (V)] of Denmark is expected shortly at Copenhagen. Envoys of Neuburg[-Palatinate] at Stockholm are continuously negotiating about Polish succession, receiving benevolent promises, and simultaneously occupied concerning succession to duchy of Jülich. Treaty negotiations, supposed to have been commenced at Breda are currently Sweden's main pre-occupation, since she hopes England will cause amendments to treaty of Elbing, which count [Christopher Delphicus] Dohna was unable to obtain, to be included [in negotiations]. Monsieur Helefeldt, grand-master of Swedish artillery, has passed through Hamburg on his way to Stade to confer there with fieldmarshal Wrangel.
