Folio 56: [?] to [Williamson]. News-letter. Death, on May 1, of queen of Poland [Mary Gonzaga, consort of John II Casimir]; more disorder and new plots expected in that kingdom; diet at Warsaw not yet dissolved, one cannot see what it will produce. Swedes expectedto march any day, but their designs are not clear, some conjecture that they are trying to prevent aid reaching Brabant, others think they are marching towards Dutch to keep them on alert and prevent them from aiding their neighbours, whilst yet others even say that King of France had demanded return by Dutch of those towns and territorities which they hold in Brabant, claiming they belong to him; if this is true it would result in 'terrible' changes; one hopes new peace treaty will lead to some arrangement. PS: Has been secretly advised that a marriage between one of the dukes of Brunswick-Lüneburg and an imperial princess has been settled.
