Folio 34. Newcastle to Lord Edgcumbe, acknowledging the receipt of the address of Cornwall and discussing the defence arrangements being made by other counties. Expresses regret that Cornwall has not yet agreed on the course it should follow. Mayor-Gen. Reade has been appointed commander of the western parts of England, to succeed Lord Tyrawley who is to serve as lieutenant-general under Marshal Wade. Gives latest news of the rebels and measures taken for defence against them.
