Sir John Cope, at Berwick on Tweed, to the marquis of Tweeddale enclosing: 1) report of James Wallace, dated 2 Oct. at Berwick, on the activities of the rebels in Edinburgh and at their camp at Duddingston. 2) report of Corporal John Lowden of Gen. Hamilton's regiment, dated 2 Oct. at Berwick, of his capture by rebels and imprisonment in Edinburgh, before his escape at Linlithgow. 3) answer of Charles `Prince Regent' dated 30 Sept. at Holyrood House, to Gen. Guest's letter (conveyed to him by the deputies of Edinburgh), threatening that the city would be fired upon from the castle unless communication between the two were opened.
