Folio 5. Declaration of Lieut. Francis Dupont Duvivier, commander of the Perfect frigate and M. de Tilly le Pelley, ensign, commander of the Argonaut, that they had taken the English ship the Virginia Merchant, commanded by Richard Hutchinson (on a voyage from Liverpool to Virginia), and had put on board 55 prisoners, which they wish to be exchanged for the same number of French prisoners held at Portsmouth; Hutchinson being held hostage on the Perfect until the transaction is satisfactorily completed.
